B. bruxellensis is commonly found as spoilage yeast in soft drinks and wine. However, it is also used in the beer industry to create acetic acid rich beers and has also been detected in Kombucha. In nature it is usually found on the skin of fruits. Currently there are no links between this fungal species and health concerns.
